A Smithton man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a female bartender in Mount Pleasant early Thursday.

Marc Robert Hixson, 32, allegedly grabbed the woman’s genital area while she tried to play a song at the juke box in the End Zone on West Main Street at 12:23 a.m., borough police said in an affidavit of probable cause.

Two officers were parked in a patrol car nearby when they saw and heard a woman screaming for help outside of the bar, police said.

When officers entered the bar, they said they separated two men who were fighting. The bartender then told officers that one of the men, later identified as Hixson, grabbed her and made a lewd comment, police said.

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault.

Hixson was intoxicated and was taken to Frick Hospital, where he allegedly became combative, attempted to spit on officers and threatened an officer, police said.

After being taken to the Westmoreland County Prison, he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Roger Eckels. He was released after bail was posted.

Hixson has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, harassment, terroristic threats and public drunkenness.
