A Masontown man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a man with a knife during an altercation involving four people at Fort Mason Village at about 2 a.m. Friday.

Morris E. Earquhart, 44, claimed he was the victim in the attack, according to court documents.

Police said they found Earquhart after they were dispatched for an assault involving a knife.

He turned over a knife to police and claimed he was fighting with his girlfriend when two neighbors held a sword and dagger to his throat. He had no marks on his neck, police said.

Masontown police interviewed Shaun Erdman, Roberta Dawson and Zachary Varano separately, and each reported Earquhart was the assailant.

He allegedly pushed Dawson at the entrance of her residence, asking “Where she at?” Erdman said he grabbed a sword to defend himself, if necessary, and he and Varano attempted to get Earquhart out the door.

Erdman reported Earquhart held a knife to his rib cage, and police observed a small puncture wound on his side. Erdman attempted to push the knife away and cut his hand, causing a large amount of bleeding.

The two men pushed Earquhart out the door while he allegedly shouted, “I’ll kill you,” court documents indicate.

Earquhart is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and defiant trespass.

He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
