A New Haven Hose Company fire fighter decontaminates another firefighter after entering a structure without the proper safety equipment where a chemical explosion occurred. The meth lab explosion took place at a duplex on South Carnegie Avenue in Connellsville.

Three people were injured in a meth lab explosion early Sunday morning in Connellsville, according to fire officials.

Around 2:45 a.m. the New Haven Hose Company and police responded to a call for a structure fire on South Carnegie Avenue in Connellsville, according to Fayette County 911. Once on scene the Fayette County HAZMAT Team 900 was called.

The three people injured, whom police have not identified, were flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh for treatment.

Connellsville City Police is currently investigating.
