Police: Unidentified man pointed gun at 4-year-old girl during Redstone Township home invasion
A man who allegedly pointed a gun at a 4-year-old girl during a home invasion in Redstone Township is on the loose, while two others are in jail.
Stephen Michael Guziak, 26, and Melanie Ann Fowler, also known as Melania Ann Perdue, 28, both of Uniontown were taken into custody by state police Friday.
The alleged victim, David Johnson, reported to state police that he and his 4-year-old daughter were sleeping at their 410 3rd Street residence in Chestnut Ridge when he heard three loud bangs and the front door fly open on the final bang, according to court documents.
He said Guziak, Fowler and a black man with a mask and dark hoodie walked inside. Guziak allegedly held a gun to JohnsonĢƵ head, yelling, “Do you know who I am (expletive)?” and “Where is she?” The masked man reportedly pointed a gun at the girl. Johnson grabbed his daughter and fled the scene for help, court documents indicate.
Guziak ran outside and kicked JohnsonĢƵ vehicle while the other two suspects ransacked the residence, damaging a table and other kitchen items, police said. The suspects fled after Johnson said police were on the way.
Trooper Annabel Mosco was on the scene when Johnson received a phone call, which he said was from Guziak. Johnson put the phone on speaker. Mosco reported the caller said “Are you done playing with me? I told you I was looking for her,” court paperwork said.
Guziak was taken into custody peacefully after a 1 and 1/2 hour standoff at Road Runner Athletic Club along Route 40 near Hopwood Friday.
He is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Fowler is charged with burglary, criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Guziak and Fowler were both arraigned on $75,000 bonds set by on-call Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock. They are lodged in Fayette County Prison.
Last year, Guziak was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly leaving his pit bull chained outside for several days over the summer. The dog was later euthanized. In 2014, Guziak reported someone shot and killed his dog and stole his lizard during a burglary.
