Two people who were seriously burned in a suspected methamphetamine lab explosion were identified by Connellsville police Monday.

Police said Corey Hann, 34, and Natasha Harwood, 29, both of 221 1/2 S. Carnegie Ave. in Connellsville were found with “numerous burns” on their bodies after a fire at their duplex at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. Hann and Harwood were flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh by medical helicopter.

A third person, who police did not identify, was taken to the hospital by ambulance as a precaution. That person was in the duplex at the time of the explosion, police said.

No charges have been filed in the case.

The fire started in a second floor bedroom, according to fire officials. Emergency personnel evacuated residents from the building.

Connellsville police said several items in the residence indicated the explosion was related to meth manufacturing operations in the home.

Fayette EMS, New Haven Hose fire department, Fayette County HazMat  and state police assisted at the scene.
