Three people were taken to be checked at an area hospital following a collision between a school van and a private vehicle at Connellsville Area High School Monday afternoon.

Rich Evans, the schoolĢƵ director of transportation, said the two students in a school van and a student in the private vehicle were taken to Highlands Hospital by ambulance for treatment as a precaution. Four students were in the school van.

The van was turning left onto Falcon Drive when it was hit, Evans said.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Falcon Drive, the entryway to the school.

“Everyone seemed to be OK on the scene,” he said, adding that he was going to the hospital to see the students.

Connellsville police determined the students should be evaluated because of their position in the van, he said. It was hit on the rear driverĢƵ side. The parents of the students involved were notified, he said.

Evans was grateful no one was seriously injured.

“ItĢƵ always a scary situation when you hear about a situation like that,” he said.

The school districtĢƵ police department also responded to the scene. The private vehicle was towed.
