A Crucible woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed a man in the back of the head during a fight involving four people in Cumberland Township Tuesday night.

Alyssa Theresa Ortiz, 24, of 36 Third St. was arraigned Wednesday morning on charges of attempted homicide, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, disorderly conduct and two counts each of aggravated assault and rioting.

Cumberland Township police were called to Grant Street in Nemacolin at about 6 p.m. for a report of a person with a knife and multiple people fighting. Police found Ricky Finn bleeding from the head. Police said he was taken to a hospital for treatment, but it was unclear if his injuries were life threatening.

Ortiz appeared to be under the influence of drugs, but police had not yet determined what she had taken, if anything, they said.

According to court documents, witnesses told police Finn and Janet Higinbotham saw Ortiz looking into vehicles with a flashlight. Finn told Ortiz to leave, and she allegedly punched him in the face. Higinbotham stepped in to defend Finn and started fighting with Ortiz. Then Randy Tiberi Jr. came up the street and began fighting with Finn. Ortiz allegedly ran to TiberiÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ vehicle, grabbed a knife and stabbed Finn in the back of the head.

A witness told police Ortiz threw the knife on a porch, and police collected it. The tip of the knife was broken, according to court documents.

Ortiz is lodged in Greene County Prison on a $100,000 bond set by Magisterial District Judge D. Glenn Bates.

Her preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 4.
