South Connellsville house collapses in fire

A South Connellsville home caught fire and collapsed Thursday morning. No injuries were reported and no one was home at the 1911 South Pittsburgh Street home when the fire started.
Thirteen fire departments responded to an intense blaze at a South Connellsville home Thursday morning. The front of the house collapsed. No injuries were reported.

No injuries were reported at the 1911 South Pittsburgh Street home, and no one was home when the fire started, said South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeremy Grubbs.
The department was called at 4:30 a.m. and quickly called for backup due to the collapse and faulty fire hydrants. No one was in the house when the front of the house collapsed shortly after firefighters arrived on the scene, Grubbs said.
鈥淭hat made a big difference in being able to knock down the fire, being that everything was on top of itself,鈥� he said. 鈥淲e had a hard time getting to the fire.鈥�
Crews encountered more troubles when the nearest fire hydrants would not produce enough water to battle the blaze. They moved to a fire hydrant one block away for a better water source.
Grubbs said a couple lived in the house.
鈥淭he story I heard is the boyfriend was on his way to work when he got the phone call,鈥� he said.
The couple蘑菇视频 dog was outside the house when the fire started.
A state police fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire and where it started.
Crews worked for seven hours on the scene to extinguish the blaze. A total of 13 fire departments responded. Meanwhile, an additional five crews were called to a fire in German Township, tying up more than one-third of Fayette County蘑菇视频 fire crews in addition to other fire and emergency calls throughout the morning.
McClellandtown volunteer fire department was called to the house at 1430 Leckrone-Masontown Road at about 8 a.m., according to a Fayette County 911 supervisor.
No injuries were reported.
South Connellsville was assisted by Connellsville Township, New Haven Hose, Dawson, Everson, D.L. & V., Morrell, Monarch, Bullskin, North Union, Perryopolis, Dunbar and Smock fire departments and Fayette EMS.
McClellandtown was assisted by Adah, Edenborn, Footedale and Ronco fire departments and Fayette EMS.
