A man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed his wife with a steak knife because he was upset about the way she cooked his steak.

Shannon Lynch, 41, of 153 Rydle Road in Mount Pleasant, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Elaina Lynch called police and fled to her parents home, reporting her husband stabbed her at about 11 p.m. Saturday at their home. He “took offense to the texture of his steak” and began assaulting her, shoving the woman, head butting her and spitting on her several times, according to paperwork filed in the case.

He then allegedly stabbed her in the right arm with a steak knife. State police said the woman was found with a stab wound, red marks under both her eyes, and a cut and blood on her clothing.

State police issued a release Saturday morning seeking information on Lynch’s location. He turned himself in at the state police barracks in Uniontown on Sunday, police said.

Lynch was arraigned at 1:45 a.m. Monday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries, who set bail at $30,000 in the case. He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of bond. His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday before Jeffries.
