Uniontown Police looking for Walgreens robber
Uniontown City Police Department is looking for a man they say robbed Walgreens on West Main Street Wednesday, telling a clerk he had a gun.
Police were able to arrive almost immediately after they were called just after 7 p.m., but were unable to locate the suspect, according to Lt. Tom Kolencik.
He described the robbery as “odd” because of the location, high traffic area and timing. Although it was daylight and many people were in the store, he said the man did not attract attention to himself – despite a bright pink shirt – and inconspicuously concealed his identity.
“He didn’t draw attention to himself and just calmly asked for money and cigarettes,” he said.
Police believe he either walked to a home or a getaway vehicle nearby, fleeing toward North Mount Vernon Avenue after the clerk gave him money and cigarettes. Kolencik said police are unsure if he had a gun or simply claimed to have one.
The suspect was wearing a pink shirt, glasses and a black beanie, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Fayette County Crime Stoppers at (724) 320-2042.
