Michigan man on the run charged with attempted homicide of Hibbs woman
A Michigan man who is on the run after a 2016 sexual assault conviction allegedly attacked a woman with a hammer in Hibbs, Fayette County, early Tuesday.
Jeremy Scott Wogoman, 23, of Clinton Township, Michigan, absconded parole in Michigan for attempted aggravated sexual assault, according to court documents.
Police found he was staying in Charleroi, Washington County, with a woman.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Kristen Jordan awoke in her Summit Street home at about 4:45 a.m. with a man she did not recognize standing over her bed. He allegedly hit her in the head with a hammer, saying that he “was sorry but he had to do it,” police wrote. He reportedly followed her around the house and onto the porch.
“Your kids are not going to have a mother anymore,” he allegedly told Jordan on her porch.
She ran down the street, dropping a blood-soaked rag and bloody hooded sweatshirt on the road, police said.
German Township Police said she was “hysterical” and shaken to the point where she could barely speak. She later gave a description of the man, saying he had “Numb” tattooed on his forehead. Later, she told police she was at a bar with two friends. Police determined one of those friends was housing Wogoman. She has not been charged in the case.
Charleroi Regional Police found Wogoman outside a local bar. Jordan identified Wogoman by a photograph, police said.
Police said JordanĢƵ pillow, sheets and comforter were soaked with blood, and a hammer was found near the bed.
She was treated at Uniontown Hospital for a severe laceration to her head.
Wogoman is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, burglary and recklessly endangering another person.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who denied bail in the case.
His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 22 before Shimshock.
Masontown police assisted German Township police in the investigation.
