Man on bicycle hit by pickup truck in Connellsville

A 53-year-old man riding a bicycle on Memorial Boulevard in Connellsville was hit by a pickup truck at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and taken to the hospital.

City police did not release the name of the bicyclist or the driver, or detail the extent of his injuries.

He was treated on the scene by Fayette EMS, then taken to Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant. He was later transported to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, police said. The truck driver, a 47-year-old man, was not injured.

Connellsville police said the truck and bicycle collided when the truck was turning right onto Memorial Boulevard from North Pittsburgh Street Extension, and the bicyclist was on the Memorial Boulevard berm.
