78-year-old Uniontown man killed in crash on National Pike
A 78-year-old Uniontown man was killed Thursday evening when his Jeep Liberty hit a tractor trailer on National Pike in Henry Clay Township, officials said.
State police identified the man as Roy B. Zack. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
State police said Zack was driving west on State Route 40 in the right lane when he reportedly hit the tractor trailer at about 4:45 p.m., which was pulling into a private driveway near Mae West Road. The second driver was identified as Eric R. Chapman, 47, of Elk Garden. He reported no injuries.
Police said Chapman was using proper lighting and equipment. Zack was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
State police were assisted on the scene by Markleysburg Volunteer Fire Department, Fayette EMS, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office and Yough Lake Towing.
