A Uniontown woman was charged with criminal homicide in the fatal Christmas Day stabbing of a 25-year-old man at a hotel where they were planning to spend the holidays.

Dominique E. Jones, 27, reportedly admitted to stabbing Tre Montel McCargo at Holiday Inn Express in South Union Township, according to state police.

McCargo ran from a room into the hotel lobby just after 2 p.m., bleeding from a stab wound to his neck. State police and EMS rushed to the scene after hotel staff called 911. McCargo succumbed to his injuries.

Prior to filing charges against McCargo, police said they were investigating whether the stabbing was in self defense. Jones was cooperating with the investigation, state police said.

Police found a blood trail at the Mary Higgins Lane hotel, leading from the lobby to a hotel room. In the room, police found a knife on the bathroom sink.

Arraignment information was not immediately available for Jones.

McCargo was pronounced dead at Uniontown Hospital.
