Belle Vernon man charged with assaulting girlfriend
A Belle Vernon man was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend when she tried to defuse an argument with a neighbor.
David Wayne Inman, 57, of 500 Blind Lane is charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault, disorderly conduct and stalking.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, a neighbor in their apartment building called 911 at about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 23 when she heard the assault and a woman calling for help. The neighbor was “highly disturbed” and treated for shock, police said. Southwest Regional Police found Inman lying on the floor of his apartment, highly intoxicated, and the apartment in disarray. His girlfriend, Edie Mickey, had red marks on her neck and injuries to both her eyes, nose, forehead and chin. She was taken to a hospital by Rostraver EMS for treatment of her injuries.
Inman was arguing with a neighbor, and Mickey tried to calm him and bring him back into the apartment, police said. He allegedly slammed her head into the wall in the hallway, jumped on top of her and choked her. She told police she is afraid Inman will kill her, according to court documents.
Inman reportedly told police Edie was the one who attacked him. Witnesses identified Inman as the aggressor, police said. He had small marks on his face that appeared to be defense marks, according to police. He denied needing treatment.
Police told Inman to stay away from Edie. They said he has attacked her in the past. In August, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting her.
Inman was arraigned Thursday night by on-call Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., who set bail at $5,000. As of Friday afternoon, he remained in Fayette County Prison in lieu of bail. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Richard A Kasunic II.
