1 min read

State police identified Norman Joseph Ciaccia, 68, of Fayette County as the victim in a two-vehicle fatal crash Sunday afternoon.

Police said Ciaccia was traveling westbound on Route 40 in Wharton Township when his vehicle was hit head-on by a Ford F-350 Super Duty truck that was towing a car trailer with a car inside. Ciaccia was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police identified the driver of the truck as Dane Patrick Revello, 50, of Somerset County.

The crash, which occurred just after noon, shut down Route 40 near Chalk Hill-Ohiopyle Road for several hours.

Police said they are continuing to investigate. They were assisted at the scene by Fayette EMS and Farmington and Hopwood volunteer fire departments.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for Ciaccia Monday morning. The results were not expected to be released until a later date, officials said.
