Ambulances were called to Laurel Highlands Senior High School Thursday afternoon for three students who began experiencing medical problems after eating gummy bears, officials said.

Two patients were taken to Uniontown Hospital by Fayette EMS, according to a Fayette 911 supervisor. It was not immediately clear why the gummy bears caused medical problems. Medics were called to treat three students within about 15 minutes starting at about 12:20 p.m.

State police are on scene investigating.
