Man subdued by clerk after allegedly robbing Bullskin gas station
A store clerk and bystander subdued a man who robbed the Honey Bear gas station in Bullskin Township Wednesday evening and bit the clerk in the leg, police said.
Thomas Andrew Youdell, 30, allegedly came into the store around 7:30 p.m. and walked behind the counter with his right hand in his pocket demanding money.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Youdell grabbed Donna Nichelson and shoved her toward the cash register. He allegedly stole $100 from the register, stuffing it in his pants pockets and carrying the bills that wouldn’t fit.Â
Johnathan Rankin was working at the gas pumps and came inside the store when he noticed the man walk behind the counter. Youdell was running toward the exit with cash and demanded more money from Rankin before shoving him. The two men began fighting, and Youdell allegedly bit Rankin in his right calf muscle, according to court documents.
Two unidentified male customers came inside during the scuffle and helped Rankin subdue the man until state police and Connellsville police arrived.
State police charged Youdell with aggravated assault, theft and two counts each of robbery and simple assault.
He was arraigned Thursday morning before on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros, who set bail at $150,000. Youdell remains in the Fayette County lockup in lieu of bond.
Police said Youdell is also wanted on robbery charges filed by City of Pittsburgh police.
