Elderly Brownsville man charged with threatening police

1 min read

A 61-year-old Brownsville man is facing aggravated assault and other charges after he allegedly waved his cane at police Sunday, threatening to kill them.

Police said Harry A. James told police from Luzerne and Redstone townships, “This is a spiritual war. I am going to kill you guys,” around 5:30 p.m. at 640 National Pike East in Redstone Township.

State police said James refused to comply with officers’ commands to drop the cane, and fought with police.

He was eventually detained and faces two counts each of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, one count of disorderly conduct and three counts of resisting arrest.

The charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr. According to online court dockets, James has yet to be arraigned.
