Five injured in three-vehicle crash in Uniontown
Five people were injured in a three-vehicle accident Friday morning at a busy Uniontown intersection.
Two of those people were flown by medical helicopter for treatment after one of those was extricated from the car.
Uniontown City Police said the driver of the black car was on East Church Street when he ran a red light at the intersection with South Gallatin Avenue just after 11 a.m. The car was hit on the passenger side by a silver minivan attempting to turn right onto East Church Street. Police said the driver of the black car accelerated, rear-ending a red car on East Church Street and careened through a grassy area in front of the former Central School building. Everyone involved in the crash suffered injuries, police said. The extent of those injuries was not immediately known.
Fayette EMS and Uniontown fire department assisted on the scene. East Church Street was closed for about an hour between Gallatin and Beeson avenues while the wreckage was cleared.
