Monessen police investigating shooting
The name of the homicide victim from an early-morning shooting in Monessen has been identified.Â
The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office reported that Jamael Campbell, 26, address unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1200 block of Summit Avenue from a gunshot wound to the head.Â
Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth A. Bacha confirmed that Campbell was the victim of a homicide that occurred around 12:35 a.m. June 25.Â
Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Joshua C. Zappone pronounced Campbell dead at 1:58 a.m.
An autopsy was performed by Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates on Monday morning with the cause and manner of death listed as a homicide by a gunshot wound to the head.
Monessen Police Department and the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau are currently investigating and will release additional details when available.
Currently, a suspect has not been identified.Â
