Man shot, killed in Uniontown apartment
A man was shot and killed in a Uniontown apartment at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night, police said.
No suspects were in custody as of 11 p.m., according to Uniontown City Police Lt. Tom Kolencik.
Police did not release the name of the victim, describing him only as a black male. Investigators converged at 72 Dunlap Street, going in and out of the apartment and talking to possible witnesses within a large area of crime scene tape.
A young woman crouched on the ground, sobbing just beyond the crime scene line. A man later hugged her, and she wept in his arms saying she was sorry.
A neighbor, who asked not to be identified for her safety, said the area was quiet when she moved in decades ago. Now, she often sees suspicious activity in the area.
“ItĢƵ these babies I care about,” she said, pointing to a young boy who trailed behind his father as the man rushed over to comfort the weeping woman.
Uniontown City Police are working to identify a suspect in the shooting. The Fayette County CoronerĢƵ Office, Fayette EMS and state police also assisted on the scene.
