1 min read

A two-vehicle crash in Henry Clay Township resulted in a fatality Saturday afternoon.

Uniontown state police said the collision along Route 40 killed Terese Carole Stockwell-Burkett, 59, of Farmington, who was driving a vehicle that hit a patch of ice and had already died upon a state police trooper’s arrival to the scene.

According to state police, the driver and passenger in the vehicle that collided with Stockwell-Burkett’s vehicle – Robert Paul Adanitsch, 36, and his passenger, an unnamed 16-year-old female, both of Front Royal, Va. – were transported to Uniontown Hospital with minor injuries.

There were no passengers in Stockwell-Burkett’s vehicle, state police said.

State police said the head-on collision occurred at 4:30 p.m. Saturday along 5320 National Pike, which is near Route 40’s intersection with Route 281.

There were 11 fatal crashes along Route 40 in Henry Clay Township from 2008 through 2017, resulting in 11 fatalities, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, more than any road in any single municipality in Fayette County in that span.
