Bullskin Township man charged with raping and assaulting woman
A Bullskin Township man is behind bars after he allegedly raped a woman, choked her and bit her Saturday.
Burt Thomas Knabenshue, 43, is charged with rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and simple assault.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ does not identify those who allege they are victims of rape.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, the woman was meeting Knabenshue at New Hope Motel in Bullskin Township, which police listed as his address. He allegedly pulled her into the room, threw her on the bed with his hand around her throat and raped her. She said he bit her breast, leaving a bruise. The woman said she repeatedly told him “no.” The woman escaped when he threw her off the bed and she ran out of the room.
State police interviewed her at Uniontown Hospital. She had bruises on her neck, inner arm and bruising and a bite mark on her breast, according to court documents.
Police interviewed Knabenshue, Saturday night. He reportedly said that the sex could have been rougher than usual and at times he choked the victim and bit the victim’s breast state police wrote in the affidavit.
Knabenshue was arraigned Saturday night by on-call Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., who set bail at $50,000.
Knabenshue remains in Fayette County Prison in lieu of bail.
