Attorneys filed motions Thursday to determine whether a 17-year-old charged with raping a teen at a Connellsville library will move to juvenile court.

Daquan Tyrek Dudley of Connellsville is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at Carnegie Free Library at a club meeting Nov. 8.

He allegedly sexually assaulted her at a club meeting the week before.

Dudley was charged as an adult with rape, sexual assault and two counts each of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.

Dudley’s attorney, Shane Gannon, asked the court to move his client’s case to juvenile court Thursday. Fayette County District Attorney Rich Bower opposed the motion.

Dudley was scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. for a preliminary hearing Thursday. The hearing will be rescheduled after it is determined where Dudley will face his charges.

Connellsville Police filed charges Monday following an investigation.

Dudley is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
