The Rev. Paul Sandusky Applause
The Rev. Paul A. Sandusky, of Connellsville, was recently honored for his administrative and executive leadership in his position as executive director of The Rankin Christian Center.
For the second year in a row, The Rankin Christian Center was selected as one of the “85 Top Workplaces” in Western Pennsylvania in a survey by the Post-Gazette of all businesses and organizations in this area.
Sandusky commented, “We are naturally proud of this achievement because it is totally employee-driven. For both this year and last, our agency was selected as one of the top 85 companies overall and, in our particular category of Human and Social Services, we ranked fourth overall in Western Pennsylvania.”
Sandusky was also honored for his ability to secure foundation funding for his organization.
He stated: “During the past fiscal year, we were able to raise over $350,000 in foundation grants for the agency and it appears that we may be able to double that amount during the current fiscal year.”
Sandusky noted that foundations were particularly interested in the longevity of the organization, which was founded in 1904, and the mission and ministry of The Rankin Christian Center, a Matthew 25 ministry “… unto the least of these my brethren …”
Sandusky noted that the center is located in Rankin Borough, which demonstrates the highest number and percentage of individuals and families living below the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and the highest unemployment rate in Allegheny County.
Sandusky has been serving as executive director of the Rankin Christian Center since 1998. Previously, he served as the executive director of the Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission, executive director of the Eastern Ohio Regional Alcoholism Council, and executive director of the Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Addiction Center.
Sandusky and his wife Janie, a former Connellsville Area School District teacher and union president, reside in Connellsville. Sandusky is also a member of the board of directors of CrossKeys and serves as the part-time pastor of The First Christian Church of Brownsville.
