Greene County man charged with attempted assault on officers

By The 1 min read

A New Freeport man is behind bars after he allegedly attempted to assault to officers who were investigating reports of domestic abuse.

Luke Spencer, no age given, of Gilbert Ridge Road was stopped on East High Street near Sherwin-Williams in Waynesburg at about 11:30 p.m. Monday after his girlfriend reported to police he was chasing her and tried to run her over with his truck.

Waynesburg police wrote in court documents Spencer appeared to be intoxicated. He allegedly resisted arrest and tried to kick the officers, saying “get some state boys or you’re gonna get hurt,” according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case.

State police were called to assist.

Spencer is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats and one count each of DUI and reckless endangerment.

He was arraigned Tuesday morning before Magisterial District Judge D. Glenn Bates, who set bail at $25,000. Spencer remains in Greene County Prison in lieu of bond.
