Two men are facing drug charges after state police searched Super 8 Motel in South Union Township following a hangup call to 911 at about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Joseph Michael Cooley, 37, of West Craig Street and Joshua Allen Kaylor, 35, of Longsite Drive are behind bars after police allegedly found drugs and a gun in their hotel room.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in their cases, state police were searching the hotel room-by-room to find the person who called 911. At room 101, police smelled burnt marijuana and saw Cooley walking toward the door. He was allegedly found with an empty syringe, a white powdery substance and other paraphernalia. A handgun was in plain view in the room, and the window was open, police said.

Police watched surveillance footage, which reportedly showed Kaylor jumping out the window as police arrived, and running with Cooley to a dumpster behind the hotel. Kaylor was found near the shed, and police found $10,075 cash stuffed under the shed, along with two plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance, according to court paperwork.

Police said Kaylor resisted arrest. They obtained a search warrant and found a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance, an extended magazine, a .22-caliber magazine, 9-mm cartridges and other paraphernalia, court documents said.

Both Kaylor and Cooley have criminal histories, according to state police.

Kaylor reportedly told police he is addicted to cocaine and uses it frequently.

Both are charged with conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver, possession with intent to deliver, knowledge that property is proceeds of illegal activity, prohibited possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kaylor is facing an additional charge of resisting arrest. Cooley is facing two additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and four additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and one additional count of possession of marijuana.

Kaylor was arraigned on a $100,000 bond. Cooley was arraigned on a $75,000 bond. Both remain in the Fayette County lockup.
