Rice Landing man dies in Fredericktown crash

A Rice Landing man died in a one-vehicle crash in East Bethlehem Township on Wednesday morning.

Donald Lee Howes, Jr., 59, died at 6:38 a.m. at the 200 block of Horton Road in Fredericktown, approximately three hours after the crash, the Washington County Coroner’s Office announced Wednesday.

Howes was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle traveling southbound on Horton Road when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and rolled on the southbound side of the road, the coroner’s office said, also noting that he was not wearing a seat belt.

The incident is under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police, the coroner’s office said, adding that the cause and manner of death are pending. Assisting at the scene were East Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Department, Richeyville Fire Department and Brownsville Emergency Medical Services.
