State police said a school presentation on inappropriate touching prompted an 8-year-old girl to report that she was being sexually abused.

David L. Hresko, 32, of West Newton is in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bond, charged Wednesday with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor and several other counts of abuse.

Police alleged Hresko sexually abused the girl over a four-year period. The alleged victim told police Hresko told her not to tell anyone what happened, according to court documents. When the girl saw the school presentation, however, she realized that what had occurred was wrong and came forward, police said.

Hresko faces an April 22 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner.
