Fresh Fire Church opens second location with Uniontown campus

Fresh Fire Church Uniontown, a nondenominational Christian church located at 171 Connellsville St., will host its first worship service at 6 p.m. April 12.

The Uniontown campus is a second location for Fresh Fire Church, which opened in 2011 and is situated along Route 40 in Redstone Township. Fresh Fire is also planning to open a third church in the former Cardale Elementary School later this year.

“It’s always been our desire to have multiple locations. It’s part of the vision of the church,” said the Rev. Adam Lawson, senior pastor.

Lawson is leading worship at both sites, assisted by Pastor Donny Hinkle and Dr. Kenny Howe.

“Right now, we’re working as a team. Within the coming months, we’ll appoint a campus pastor in Uniontown,” said Lawson. “We are also going to be using some local ministers to help with preaching, some worship and outreach.”

In addition to the 6 p.m. Friday worship services, the church will start a Bible study on Friday nights and is planning several outreach programs this summer. They will include a block party and a community cookout as well as a food distribution.

Currently, Fresh Fire oversees a monthly food distribution for Produce to People at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.

“We want to do a second in the area to keep it local,” said Lawson. “A lot of people have transportation issues. If we could keep it local, it would be more helpful to them.”

Worship in Redstone Township is held at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sundays and 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Services are live streamed over Fresh Fire’s website and Facebook page as well as on Pittsburgh’s Cornerstone Television.

Lawson said the live streaming is “a blessing but it can cause attendance to be unpredictable.” He estimated attendance at both sites to average 150 people.

There are high hopes for the new Uniontown campus.

“I believe what we as a church have to provide people with is hope,” Lawson said. “With so much going on in the world and so much divisiveness, churches have to be the one place where that doesn’t exist.”

Both the Uniontown and Redstone campuses share a phone number: 724-580-7027 and a website at www.freshfirechurch.net. Each campus also has its own Facebook page.
