Alleged intruder shot in Republic
State police were called to a home along Route 40 in Republic, Redstone Township at 8 p.m. Friday night after a man was shot during an alleged home invasion or burglary.
State police said the man entered the home and someone inside, possibly the homeowner, shot the “would-be” burglar.
The injured man reportedly ran from the scene, but was later found after police followed a blood trail from his injury. He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. His name and condition have not been released by authorities.
The state police said all people involved in the incident are accounted for and there is no further risk to the public. The name of the man in custody also has not yet been released.
