Masontown man allegedly led police on chase after bar fight
A Masontown man allegedly assaulted a woman during a fight at Adolph’s bar and then fled responding officers on snowy roads Friday.
Masontown Borough Police arrested Joshua Alan St. Clair, 27, after he reportedly barricaded himself inside his Field Street home, according to court paperwork.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, St. Clair fled the bar after police arrived, nearly hitting Officer Margaret Vorum-Leonard’s patrol vehicle as she arrived. She swerved to avoid a collision and another officer ran after St. Clair. He allegedly fled Vorum-Leonard on snow-covered roads from Main Street to West Church Street, nearly hitting several vehicles. He ran inside his house and refused to exit, police said.
St. Clair was eventually taken into custody. He reportedly admitted to having several alcoholic drinks that night.
He was allegedly fighting was another man at the bar and hit a woman. He reportedly damaged a door at the bar during the fight. Police said his license was suspended for driving under the influence.
St. Clair is charged with attempted aggravated assault, fleeing officers, resisting arrest, DUI, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.
He was arraigned Saturday morning before on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros, who set bail at $50,000. He remains in Fayette County Prison.
