West Virginia man fatally shot at Greene County home

By Mike Jones for The 1 min read

A Greene County man was charged with criminal homicide after state police said he fatally shot another man in his Monongahela Township home Thursday morning.

State police said 21-year-old Anthony William King shot and killed William Lawrence Worry III with a shotgun about 2 a.m. while he and two other women were in King’s home near Greensboro.

Police said Worry, 23, of Mannington, W.Va., died at the scene.

Worry and two women went to King’s home at 145 Alicia Main St. to “retrieve belongings” of one of the women, and King let them inside, police said. But as they were leaving the home with the woman’s items, King came out of his bedroom with a shotgun and shot Worry once, police said.

Investigators did not say if the women were injured.

In addition to the homicide charge, King is also facing one charge of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon by District Judge Lee Watson and is being held at the Greene County jail without bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. before Watson.
