Police: Woman stole $38K from a parked car in Roscoe
A Westmoreland County woman has been arrested on a warrant accusing her of breaking into a parked car in Roscoe to steal $38,000 from its glove compartment in February.
District Judge Robert Redlinger placed the suspect, Darla Rhodaneea Bryan, 38, in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond following her Monday arraignment, court records show.
Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport Regional police accused Bryan of breaking the right, front window of a sport-utility vehicle belonging to William Srdich about 10:15 p.m. Feb. 1 while it was parked at Roscoe Volunteer Fire Co.
Police said video surveillance captured Bryan and another woman leaving after the window was broken and a siren came on, and then returning a short time later. Both women entered the vehicle at alternate times.
The money was stolen from a locked glove compartment after it was pried open, police said. Bryan is accused of causing $300 in damage to the vehicle.
Srdich told police he couldn’t keep the money at home because of issues there, court records indicate.
It was not immediately known Tuesday why the money was stored in the vehicle, or how the suspect knew where to find it at 320 Furlong Ave. No one else has been charged in the case, online court records show.
Bryan, of 134 Redrow Road, South Huntingdon Township, was charged with theft, theft from a motor vehicle, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
