Men charged with fleeing police in stolen truck in Uniontown
Two men were arrested after allegedly fleeing state police in a stolen truck Sunday morning at about 80 mph, accelerating toward a group of people on the Sheepskin Trail.
Joshua Alexander Jackson, 25, of Caroline Avenue in Uniontown was identified as the driver and Michael Guty, 48, of Truman Road in Charleroi was identified as the passenger.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police spotted a white Ford F-150 with a red toolbox in the bed which matched the description of a vehicle stolen from Multi-Chem two nights before.
After receiving confirmation the vehicle was stolen, a trooper tried to pull over the truck at the intersection of South Grant Street and East Fayette Street at about 9:15 a.m. The driver allegedly accelerated onto Grant Street and Barton Mill Road before turning onto the trail, where a group of people was walking.
Jackson allegedly ran red lights on Beeson Avenue and jumped out of the truck without putting it in park, ran down a hill and crossed Redstone Creek. He was taken into custody by Uniontown City Police and state police near J and B Auto. The truck crashed into a parked vehicle. Guty got out of the vehicle and identified himself to police, according to court paperwork.
Both men are charged with receiving stolen property and fleeing or attempting to elude officer. Jackson is facing an additional count of accident involving attended property damage.
They were both arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who set their bail at $35,000.
