Uniontown man faces charges after three people shot in two separate shootings in city
Three people were shot in multiple shootings in Uniontown early Sunday morning.
Uniontown city police said there was one gunshot victim at 28 Dunlap Street and two subsequent gunshot victims at 14 Pershing Court, alleging that a Uniontown man shot all three shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday.
Anderson Dwayne Gregg, 37, of 44 Lemon Street faces charges stemming from Uniontown police allegations that he was the shooter.
One shooting victim is in critical condition at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown while the other two victims sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Uniontown police.
Ruben Davis sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was transported to Uniontown Hospital, saying that he was sitting on the porch at 28 Dunlap Street when two shots were fired from a long silver gun, police said in a criminal complaint.
Deonta Davis was hospitalized after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the head and one to the right upper arm, police said, adding that Tazih Thomas was struck in the buttocks and transported to Uniontown Hospital.
Police said in the criminal complaint that a caller reported a shooter named Anderson was responsible for shots fired with multiple victims in the area and enforced a traffic stop on a black GMC traveling at a high rate of speed on Wayne Street, three blocks away from the crime scenes. The driver was Gregg, and a silver and black rifle with a 30-round magazine was leaning on the front passenger seat, according to police.
A search warrant on the GMC that Gregg was driving conducted later Sunday morning revealed a Hi-Point .380 with one live .380 round in the chamber and one magazine containing seven live .380 rounds, according to police. Police said the rifle had a live .223 round in the chamber and a 30-round magazine containing 21 live .223 rounds.
Two witnesses identified Gregg as the shooter, according to Uniontown police.
Since GreggÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ criminal history includes felony convictions for burglary and robbery, Gregg was prohibited from possessing a firearm, police noted.
Gregg was taken into custody and faces charges of three counts of attempted criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, three counts of simple assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of possession of a weapon, and one count of firearms not to be carried without a license.
City police originally reported Sunday morning that four people were shot, but one woman was not shot but instead treated for an abrasion after falling, city police said Sunday afternoon.
City police, state police and Fayette EMS responded to the scenes, according to Fayette County 911.
