New details released in triple-fatal crash in German Township
State police are continuing their investigation into a collision between a tri-axle dump truck and a pickup truck that left three dead Tuesday, including a young child.
Police identified the deceased as 4-year-old Hunter Braddee of McClellandtown, 20-year-old Kayla Nicole Burwell of McClellandtown and 53-year-old Ronald Burwell Jr. of Uniontown. Police identified the dump truck driver only as a 46-year-old Connellsville man. He worked for Route 51 Auto & Truck Parts in Smock. The crash occurred at about 3:55 p.m. near Double T Bar & Grill, police said.
A representative of the trucking company declined comment.
Kayla Burwell, BraddeeĢƵ aunt, was driving the pickup truck, a Ford F-150. Burwell Jr. was BradeeĢƵ grandfather and Kayla BurwellĢƵ father, according to their obituaries.
A “Good Samaritan,” state troopers and an off-duty German Township police officer freed the boy from the back seat of the pickup truck through a window, police said. He was breathing, but later died on the scene. The woman and man were freed mechanically by EMS and fire units. The woman was breathing and taken to Uniontown Hospital by EMS, where she later died. The man died on the scene.
A state police accident reconstruction unit and forensics unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
Braddee celebrated his fourth birthday Sunday, according to his obituary. Kayla Burwell enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, her obituary said. She also loved board games, drawing and animals. Burwell Jr. enjoyed hunting and playing pool, according to his obituary.
Fayette EMS, the Fayette County coronerĢƵ office, and McClellandtown, Edenborn, Collier, Adah, Masontown and Footdale fire departments also responded to the scene.
Autopsies will be performed on all three of the deceased victims, according to the coronerĢƵ office.
