Charleroi firefighter assaulted
A Charleroi fireman was assaulted Sunday while he was on an emergency medical call at a house where a man collapsed during a screaming match among relatives.
Charleroi Regional police Monday filed charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct against the suspect, Tyrek Frazier, 19, of 606 Eighth St., court records show.
Police said Frazier punched Glenn Shipley in the face while Shipley was performing his duties as a firefighter.
Shipley told police he was struck while trying to keep people out of the 806 Crest Ave. residence where Lewis Rawls was on the floor and unresponsive.
Rawls was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. He survived the medical problem, a court official said.
Police said seven people were outside of Rawls’ residence when officers arrived about 1:45 p.m.
The people were screaming and blaming each other for Rawls’ medical problem, the affidavit indicates.
Rawls collapsed while holding back Dahmir Rawls after he became upset because another person threw water on him.
District Judge Larry Hopkins signed a warrant Monday for Frazier’s arrest.
