Woman killed in Monday South Huntingdon Township crash
A 25-year-old woman was killed in an early morning crash in South Huntingdon Township Monday.
Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha identified the woman as Sarah E. McDonald of West Hills Drive in Hempfield Township.
Bacha said McDonald was the rear passenger of a Nissan Altima traveling south on Highway Street when the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road and hit a parked car. The Nissan traveled up an embankment and hit multiple trees, according to the coroner.
The crash occurred around 1:50 a.m., and Bacha reported that McDonald was not wearing a seat belt.
State police are investigating and a cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, Bacha said.
Deputy Coroner Joshua Zappone pronounced McDonald dead at the scene just after 3 a.m.
