A Uniontown man allegedly hit a man in the back of the head with a gun and threatened to shoot everyone in a Murray Avenue house Sunday afternoon because someone accused his wife of stealing scratch-off ticket winnings.

Uniontown City Police charged Dominique Dante Young, 31, of Evans Street with aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, simple assault and defiant trespass.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Young and his wife, Latoya Young, got into an argument with several people at Byers Market on Connellsville Street over the missing money. Susan Jenkins told police her money went missing at Byers after speaking to Latoya Young. The Youngs later went to 39 Murray Avenue at about 5 p.m. to confront Vincent Cossell and Jenkins. On the porch, Dominique Young allegedly took a loaded gun from his waistband and pointed it at them, saying “I’ll kill all you (expletives) in this house.” He then allegedly hit Cossell in the back of the head with the pistol.

The two men reportedly fought over the gun, causing them and Latoya Young to fall over the porch railing. Cossell had the gun in his hand when police arrived on the scene. After Cossell put the gun on the ground, Young allegedly grabbed it. Police removed their guns and ordered him to put the pistol back on the ground, which he did.

Cossell had bruising on the back of his head and cuts on his neck, which were apparently caused by fingernail scratches, police said.

Young reportedly told police he and Cossell were fighting on the porch, and the gun fell out of his pants. He claimed Cossell picked up the gun and threatened to shoot him.

Young did not have a concealed carry permit, according to court documents.

He was arraigned Sunday night before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros, who set bail at $35,000. Young was unable to post bail.
