A 34-year-old man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident at about 4 a.m. in Brownsville, officials said.

The Fayette County CoronerĢƵ Office identified the man as James Close of Brownsville.

Brownsville police are investigating the crash. A state police accident reconstruction team from Washington also assisted at the scene, officials said.

“He wasn’t wearing a helmet or any protective gear,” said deputy coroner Mallory Napolillo.

Close was pronounced dead on the scene at 5 a.m. An autopsy will not be performed. His cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results, according to Napolillo.
