Uniontown police looking for driver who hit child
Uniontown City Police are looking for the public’s help to identify a driver who hit an 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle, injuring him Monday evening.
The person was driving a gray two-door car which may have minor damage on the front, according to Lt. Tom Kolencik. The boy’s injuries were not life threatening, he said.
The driver was traveling on Byers Avenue and turned left on Craig Street, headed east when he hit the boy on the road at about 5:45, police said.
The boy reported a leg injury and suffered scrapes and cuts to his face and hand. He was alert and oriented on the scene. He was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment, according to police.
The only witnesses to the crash were young children. They were unable to give a description of the driver, Kolencik said.
“We have no description at all of the driver. We don’t know if it’s a male or female. No vehicle description, no description of the driver, just a gray coupe,” he said.
The boy was visiting a relative and did not live in the area, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Uniontown City Police at 724-430-2929 or Fayette County Crime Stoppers at 724-320-2042.
