Former Connellsville councilman receives probation in sexual assault case
A former Connellsville councilman and ex-legislative aide pleaded guilty in a sexual assault case in exchange for three years of probation.
Brad W. Geyer, 37, of Connellsville gave a girl alcohol and touched her inappropriately multiple times beginning when she was 14 years old. He pleaded guilty to three counts of corruption of minors and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Eleven counts of indecent assault – one for each report of sexual contact with the girl – were dropped. Two counts of corruption of minors involved inappropriate touching, and the third involves giving the girl alcohol, said Assistant District Attorney Melinda Dellarose.
She spoke with the victim before accepting the plea agreement, and said they are satisfied with probation.
“He is under the courtĢƵ jurisdiction and supervision for the next three years,” she said. “We are satisfied with the way this case resolved.”
The teen met Geyer through Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale, and testified she saw him as “a father figure.” He was also president of the Westmoreland County theater board.
Dellarose said that the charges would appear on a background check, which she expects would prevent him from working with children in the future.
Geyer also served three terms a a councilman in Connellsville from 2003 until he lost re-election in 2015. He also served as a legislative aide in Connellsville. He was fired from that position after charges were filed.
