Family of 6 homeless after North Union fire
A family of six was displaced after their home caught fire in North Union Township Tuesday, officials said.
No one was home at 19 N. Hogsett Lane when the fire was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in a downstairs living room, according to West Leisenring Volunteer Fire Department. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Multiple departments battled the blaze and worked to extinguish fire trapped within the walls and roof.
Three adults and three children lived in the house, which was already decorated for Christmas. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family, according to West Leisenring firefighters.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined. A state police fire marshal was called to investigate.
No injuries were reported.
West Leisenring fire department was assisted by Hopwood, North Union and Dunbar fire departments, along with Fayette EMS.
