Man charged with robbery of cash, drugs in Brownsville

Bownsville police said a Chestnut Ridge man robbed a man when he went over to his house to borrow video games.

Gary James Brooks Jr., 29, of First Street is charged with robbery, theft and simple assault.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Brooks went to 1113 Second Street to borrow Xbox games from Brian May. When Brooks was leaving at about 10 p.m. Saturday, he allegedly sprayed May with pepper spray and stole $97 in cash and 48 prescription Suboxone strips.

A warrant was issued for Brooks’ arrest Wednesday. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
