A 43-year-old man waived his charges Wednesday for allegedly holding a man captive in the basement of a Masontown home and hitting him with a gun, causing serious injuries.

David M. Clark of Dilliner entered a general waiver on his charges, meaning he was not given a tentative plea offer. He is charged with attempted homicide, kidnap, failing to relinquish a weapon on a sheriffÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ order, receiving stolen property, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon, harassment, conspiracy to commit attempted homicide, kidnapping, unlawful restraint and terroristic threats and two counts each of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

Kelly Nichole French, 27, of Peach Street in Masontown was also charged in the case. She was held for the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas on her charges following a preliminary hearing in August.

The victim, Alan Lipscomb, testified then that he met French on a dating app and met up with her at her Peach Street home Jan. 21. French and Clark accused Lipscomb of stealing a phone from someone else in the house while he was there. French allegedly tied him up with extension cords as Clark encouraged her, and hit him with the gun.

Clark eventually let Lipscomb go, telling him if he went to the hospital or to police, people would be watching him, police alleged. As Lipscomb fled, he came across a Masontown police officer and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Lipscomb was admitted for two days for injuries including a severe concussion, damaged eye socket, broken nose, fractured cheekbone and a cut that required 72 stitches to close.
