A Uniontown couple is facing charges for an alleged domestic altercation involving a stabbing at a Whiteman Avenue residence Sunday night.

Barbara Norman, 46, of Farragut Street was charged by Uniontown City Police with aggravated assault and simple assault for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend. The boyfriend, Stanton Maurice Ramsey, 58, of Whiteman Avenue is charged with strangulation and simple assault.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in their cases, the couple was arguing at about 10:45 p.m. when he allegedly slapped her in the face and she allegedly threw a wooden TV tray at him, hitting him in the head. She allegedly scratched him in the face with her fingernails, and he pushed her away. She told him she was going to the kitchen to get a knife, and he followed her. He told police he grabbed her arm as she held the knife up, and they fought over the knife, causing cuts to his hands. She told police he choked her in the kitchen, preventing her from breathing. She allegedly punctured him in the upper abdomen with the knife.

Ramsey was taken to Uniontown Hospital by Fayette EMS, where he was treated for a hematoma on his scalp, facial cuts and a stab wound, which required two staples to close. Police said Norman’s cheek was swollen.

Norman and Ramsey were arraigned Monday morning by on-call Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries. She set bail at $10,000 in Norman’s case and $7,500 in Ramsey’s case. They were both released from Fayette County Prison after posting bail.
