Fayette County woman killed in head-on crash near New Stanton
A Fayette County woman died Wednesday afternoon when her vehicle was struck head-on by an SUV near New Stanton.
Betty J. Wagner, 73, of Franklin Township, was driving north on Arona Road in Hempfield Township shortly before 4:45 p.m. when a southbound SUV crossed the centerline and struck her minivan, according to the Westmoreland County coroner蘑菇视频 office.
Wagner, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, the coroner said. The cause and manner of her death are pending.
The other driver, Breanne M. Weber, 23, of Irwin, suffered minor injuries in the crash, state police said. She was treated by medics at the scene and released.
Police said Weber showed 鈥渟igns of impairment鈥� at the scene and they鈥檙e continuing to investigate whether she should be charged in connection with the fatal crash.
