Uniontown man charged with assault
A Uniontown man faces a felony aggravated assault charge after he allegedly kicked his ex-girlfriend in the back, breaking a vertebrae.
State police filed charges Tuesday against Cory Allen Zawacki, 25. Police said the incident occurred at Zawacki’s home in the 50 block of East Fayette Street Rear sometime on Oct. 23.
The alleged victim went to Uniontown Hospital and told staff she fell. She left before being medically cleared, prompting police to go to her home for a welfare check.
Zawacki was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Ronald Haggerty, who sent him to the Fayette County jail on $20,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 1.
